A little bit on wire leaders!
When it is necessary to use a wire leader, it's best to have a general knowledge of wire characteristics. Three selections are:

1. single-strand,
2. cable or twisted, and
3. plastic coated cable.

Selection of size and length is usually determined by what to catch, and where to fish.

Single-strand stainless is cheaper and works well for inshore trolling, but will kink. Do not attempt to un-kink the leader, as it will weaken it.

Small cable wire is more flexible and used a lot for short leaders when fishing for your smaller fish. Heavy cable leaders are used when fishing for the strong fighters like shark, tarpon, and large groupers found in deep water. Heavy cable is less likely to break from kink-breakage.
