An incoming tide is called a "flood tide," and the short interval between the two, just before the tide change, is called a "slack tide." A flood tide is best for fishing most varieties of fish in tidal waters. Some fisher persons fish only the ebb tide and say it's the best. A slack tide is the worst time for fishing. The reason being, that there is no moving water, therefore most food stays in one position or moves very, very slowly, and presents little to entice the fish to attack. |
