Fishing the tide pools!
A method of fishing the tide pools in and around rocks, where the surf is always surging over the rocks, is called Poke-pole-ing.

You must have a poke pole in order to use this method. This is a sturdy bamboo pole approximately 15-feet long with a 4 to 4½ foot long piece of wire attached to it. A heavy monofilament leader, approximately 6-inches long with a hook size to suit is attached to the leader. Hook sizes from 2/0 to 4/0 are good selections.

Bait up with mussel, clam, shrimp, squid, or cut fish. Now comes the fun. You may poke the bait wherever you please, in and around places where your line, sinker, and bait used to get stuck or lost.
