That frustrating sheepshead!
Sheepshead absolutely love to congregate around oyster bars, docks, rocky shoals, pilings, and bridge abutments. Tempt them first with some busted up oysters, clams, or mussels. This will drive them into a feeding frenzy.

But don't get over confident about hooking every sheepshead that bites. They have teeth that look like a set of miniature human false teeth, and have the ability to nibble your bait from the hook before it hits the bottom. They love fiddler crabs and shrimp.

The best tip on catching them is to set your hook faster than the speed of an arrow, if you're lucky enough to feel the nibble.. Their mouth is small, so don't overdo the hook and bait size.
