Recognizing conditions for best and safe fishing!
Waves that break off shore generally indicate the location of sand bars.
If you see waves breaking that are almost on the shoreline, it indicates a steep sloping to deeper water.
During calm conditions, the depth changes in the water are indicated by darker water for deep, and lighter color water for shallow.
Slime covered surfaces on rocky jetties, warn you of very slippery rock surface and should be avoided.
Watch for schools of bait fish. Usually game fish will be close at hand.
Beware of rip tides near large rock formations and jetties.
Watch for rapid water movements.
Do not wade in unfamiliar waters.
Be on the lookout for swirling water where there should not be any. This is the tip off that fish are working beneath the surface of the water.
