Pompano! A fish worth catching!
The pompano has a distinct and delicately flavored taste. Where and how are they caught? You will find them close to shorelines, in and around surf areas, up and down the coastline, and power plant discharge water. They love sand fleas, clams, white bait, and small jigs to strike. Beach casting for them, is a lot of fun when using lite tackle and jigs. They strike fast and run fast, so be on the alert when angling for them.

A very simple rig for surf fishing is monofilament line attached to a three-way swivel, with a pyramid sinker and short leader attached to the second eye. Lastly, attach a hook on a three foot leader to the third eye.
Don't forget the bait!
In case you forgot, the bait goes on the hook.
