Jigging deep for King Mackerel!
When king mackerel are schooling, try a large jig approximately 1½ ounces in weight.
Attach a second hook to the jig by running the barb of the jig through the eye of the new hook. Arrange a long strip of live bait by hooking the bait through both hooks, so the bait trails behind the jig.

Cast out and let the jig sink to where the kings are schooling and retrieve it with good sweeps of the rod. Kings can't resist that fast moving bait and will hit it with a smack.

Bouncing it off of the bottom creates some excitement with the bottom feeders also, and they are liable to hit the jig fast and hard. If this does not work, try reeling in fast and with sharp sweeps of your rod. If all else fails, try changing jigs with different colored tails and bait.
