Hooks and usage!
There are two basic types of hooks; straight and offset. This is a fisherman's choice. The straight hook, laid down on a flat surface, will lie flat. The offset hook, due to the hook bending to one side or other of the shank does not lie flat.

Pick a hook size to bring in the fish without bending or breaking the hook. It should allow ample point and barb exposure thru the bait. Choose one that does not deter from the appearance or action of the bait.

Hook color such as nickel plated, stainless or a kind that rusts is a matter of choice. The choice of eye is determined by the rig setup.

Hooks with ringed eyes (formed by bending the eye) are used for most off-shore and in-shore fishing. Hooks with needle eyes are those with the eye drilled through the shank. They are used for off shore trolling and bottom fishing, when using heavy tackle to get those monster fish.
