Eons of Ions
From the beginning of life on earth, its atmosphere has contained "ions" and now you have them at your finger tips. Why are they so important? Have you heard someone say, "I think the weather is going to change; I can feel it in my bones"? Here's the story about ions from the ancients to the old Mariners on the seas. It has been said over and over after a rain storm; "Everything smells clean, the trees and plants look so green, It's great to be alive."
Life can be beautiful!
What makes the air have an outdoor fresh smell that wafts through every nook and cranny, searching out and literally destroying undesirable odors? What separates pollutants from the air you breathe and helps those headaches disappear? What makes you feel so good that you forget the stresses of a few moments ago? Why is breathing easier and you feel like shouting, "I feel like a million bucks"?
Prior to a rainstorm, some people feel irritable and experience aches or pains in their hands or feet (or was it their "Big Toe" they complained about) and commented, "It must be the weather." In reality it is caused by the positive ions pushing pollutants toward you. They contain hundreds of assorted junk particles, gaseous remains from combustion, industrial smoke, acid rain, and road dust to name a few. Developing headaches, burning eyes, breathing difficulties or a bit of a pain before a storm is possible when breathing any portion of this air-borne junk. If you live in the rural areas you may not experience these effects, due to the junk material dispersing and dropping to earth before it reaches your area. People seeking clean indoor air should look at air cleaning devices that utilize improved A.C. filters, Negative Ion Generators, an electrostatic precipitator, and a vacuum cleaner with improved filter bags to catch the finer dusts.
Ions!
Negative ions work by colliding with airborne particles such as pollen, bacteria, smoke, and dust, clinging to them and causing the impurities to drop to the ground. These ions can be coined as "Pollution Flytraps." Ions are electrically charged molecules and can be a mixture of negative and positive ions called "plasma." Ions are created in nature by sunlight, wind, waterfalls, surf, wave speed, thunder storms, tornados, and friction by the flow of air.
That earthy smell!
Ozone is generated through lightning in the atmosphere during a storm. The results of the negative ions dropping the accumulated pollutants to the earth, and the ozone created by violent environmental lightning, produces that fresh earthy aroma. People from time long past and into our century have commented about it and always will.
Ozone!
Ozone, a very unstable molecule, is merely three molecules of oxygen instead of two. Ozone is artificially manufactured by machines that subject oxygen to high voltage, and a low amperage electrical discharge.
Do not exceed the ozone levels created by Mother Nature. Avoid harmful eye, throat, or nose irritations by always following the printed machine guidelines. If the use of ozone for air purification and elimination of smells is abused, or used with a concentration above the specifications published by the Environmental Control Administration, the side effects can be injurious to any living thing or organism.
