A cobia at the marker!
After you have spent ten to fifteen minutes getting within range of a good cast for a giant cobia spotted near a marker, try the food they love the most; a sardine, crab, or a fair-sized shrimp.

If the cobia is near the surface, arrange your bait about 4-feet below a bobber. When anchoring, use an outgoing tide to move the bait as close to the prey as possible. Allow your line to drift past the spot selected. Retrieve your bait and try it again if you had negative results. Also, if caught they are not dumb, they will cut you off as quickly as possible by circling around the marker.

The ideal situation is to have someone else running the boat and steering clear of any obstacles, such as that doggone marker.
