How does your artificial bait sound?
If you have a floating plug with a concave shaped face, chances are, when the rod tip is popped the sound emitted from this lure will be a "chug" and will attract fish to the surface for a look see.

When fishing for bass, a jitterbug is still used to entice those big lunkers to the surface. The jitterbug has an inverted airplane-like wing lip that produces a steady gurgle sound when retrieved.

Propellers on the back end, or if on front and back, will produce a rapid plip-plip-plip sound.

A Heddon sonic design will vibrate very rapidly and produce pulsations that are sensed by predators. They will zero in on the sound. The end result is, the fishes reaction depends upon the disposition of the fish and it's mood. Are they hungry, showing anger, curiosity or fear?
